- Allow writers to separate the creator from the editor, to
use writing to discover ideas as well as to communicate them
- Encourage writers to set deadlines and to abide by them
- Increase audience awareness, help writers move from
writer-based to reader-based prose
- Allow a group of writers to pool their resources, to draw
on the different strengths of each writer
- Contribute to Professional Development
-

future professionals

- Provide a structure that can be translated into thesis,
dissertation, or article writing groups in the future
